Phishing Emergency Kit

Published by Malwarebytes

Phishing is so simple, yet so effective, that its attack strategy has been in use by threat actors for over 20 years. Truth be told, it’s also the most dangerous type of cyberattack, because it exploits the most vulnerable, powerful computer on the planet: the human mind.

Phishing attacks aim to collect personally identifiable information (PII)—including login credentials, credit card, social security and bank account numbers—for fraudulent purposes. The attack is most commonly delivered as an email that spoofs a known enterprise, such as a bank or online retail store, but it can also appear to come from an individual of authority or personal acquaintance.

And phishing doesn’t only target individual contributors. Often, executives are the targets of spear phishing campaigns, as they have access to company funds and top-level, proprietary information.
